Are They Deadly Sins or Human Instincts? A Spiritualist Psychoanalyst's Perspective

Hello and welcome! My name is Ricardo Tinti, I'm a Spiritualist Psychoanalyst, and in this article we will discuss the Seven Human Instincts, popularly known as Seven Deadly Sins.

The Simpsons Ep 09 Season 19

You're probably thinking: What the hell are you talking about? (See what I did there?).

In the view of Psychoanalysis and Spirituality,

the Seven Deadly Sins are not sins, they are Human Instincts that need to be neutralized.

By neutralized, I do not mean "to get rid of them", but to manifest them in a "positive way". "Positive" here is in quotes because positive and negative do not mean good or bad. If you want to understand more about this, check out my article about the Principle of Polarity.

Back to the Human Instincts, let's list them from a Deadly Sin perspective:

  • Lust - Excessive or uncontrolled desire, especially for sexual pleasure.
  • Gluttony - Over-indulgence and over-consumption to the point of waste, typically with food and drink.
  • Greed - An intense and selfish desire for wealth, power, or possessions.
  • Sloth - Laziness or a lack of effort, particularly in relation to one's responsibilities and spiritual duties.
  • Wrath - Extreme anger and hatred leading to violence or vengeance.
  • Envy - Jealousy towards others for their possessions, status, or achievements.
  • Pride - Excessive belief in one's abilities, often considered the root of all other sins.
"Iron Man"

Already rolling your eyes? Ok, but what if:

  • Lust - Could generate the energy you need to achieve your goals? (e.g., this is my passion in life).
  • Gluttony - Could show you what is missing in your life? (e.g., sweet = more caring for yourself).
  • Greed - Could point you to what you are giving too much away? (e.g., if you give away all of your free time, how will you have time to take care of yourself?).
  • Sloth - Isn't it time to rest a little bit, to not overwork?
  • Wrath - Aren't you giving others too much control of your life? Isn't it time to say 'enough!'?
  • Envy - How do you know what you want in your life? What are you jealous of? How can you achieve that for yourself? Stealing is not an option here. Complementary to lust.
  • Pride - Believe in your value, and know that you are giving your best.

If you believe those instincts are bad, your mind will try to avoid them. But you will have them no matter what, and you may end up guilting yourself about it, trying to reject them, and end up rejecting yourself in the process.

And that will cause repercussions on the astral plane (you'll synchronize with rejection) and on the physical plane (you'll have hormonal disorders).

If you sublimate those instincts (i.e., use them in a 'positive way'), the thymus gland starts to secrete the hormone of universal love.

Crazy but awesome right?

I think I gave you enough to think about (I did my best here to generate value for you! I'm proud of myself!).

I know talking the talk is easy and walking the walk is hard. If you feel like you need help to walk the walk, book a session of Psychoanalysis and Spirituality by sending me a message on WhatsApp. I can help you sublimate those instincts and apply energy and spiritual techniques along the way because I know you'll have traumas that only talking about will not resolve.

Thanks for reading this far; I'll see you in the next article!
